Page Eight – definitely not Page 3

One of the disadvantages of travelling is losing touch with cinema. The web helps for sure and did this week when I caught up (thanks to BBC iPlayer) with Bill Nighy and Rachel Weisz in Page Eight.

Thoroughly enjoyable and ‘well observed’ as they say. Michael Gambon was superb as usual (do you remember ‘The Singing Detective’?), but Bill Nighy was terrific. It’s the scariness of the everyday duplicity and venal politicians that gets me. Of course, the basis of the story is very real for many.

Now with all the problems in the Ukraine and the cententary of WWI, one wonders if man ever learns. Plus ca change…(please excuse missing cedilla).
