I’m preparing for the next round of interviews with the subject of Susan’s Brother, and just received an interesting email from him.
He has requested that in writing the book, I treat his relationship with his son with some delicacy. I would certainly be sensitive to this issue anyway. It seems that he showed the Prologue to his son (now in late 30’s) and there was a fairly strong reaction. They discussed the family’s breakup, issues that the son had with his father (and mother), and it seems that the relationship is now on a different footing. I don’t yet know whether their relationship is ‘better’ or this process has been cathartic (and that depends I guess on the individual viewpoint), but I look forward to discussing it in the next couple of weeks.
It seems that this could form the basis of another chapter in the book.
